Lecturer Chung first established the humility of Christ for us. Then, he encouraged us to imitate Christ. Imitate His love and forgiveness for the people despite the pain.
Imitate. Not copy. Not mimicking. But imitate. Imitate involves our being, and our inward transformation.
I believe that he is telling the church something. Something that will only ring loud and clear to those who are willing to hear. But it breaks my heart when I know that some are seated here with a closed heart, blind eyes and deaf ears. It breaks my heart to see/feel existing animousity between one and the other. The statement made today during the Business Meeting disturbed me greatly. "To be united in One Body", we proclaim. But One Body doesn't mean just the christians existing within these 4 walls. One Body means the body of believers. Yes, even them. To be united. Against what? Against who?
Perhaps God's words resonates differently to different people.
Let us imitate Christ's humility. Imitate Christ who gave of Himself. Who forgave because of His great love. Let us not confess Jesus Christ with just our lips, but to obey, accept, follow, imitate Him fully. He truly forgave... that's why we can stand righteous before God. He didn't just SAY He forgave. He meant it.
Let us live out Christ in our lives.
