"success without purpose is life without meaning"
Ps Edmund shared about the story of these 3 men who were supposed to be doing this tree-planting thing. 1 was responsible for digging the hole, 1 was to plant the tree into the hole, 1 was to cover the hole with soil. One day, a passerby walked past and saw 2 men. 1 digging a hole, the other covering it. Curious, he asked, "What are you guys doing?". 1 of the men answered, "There's supposed to be 3 of us. 1 to dig, 1 to plant, 1 to fill up the hole ... but the one who's supposed to plant is sick today."
missing the whole point.

Q1: What things best represent your life?
What defines success in my life? Ps Edmund shared the story of Castaway. Of how the friends of the main character (Tom Hanks) placed into the coffin, things that they think best represent him. I wonder what people would put into my coffin to represent me. I wonder what I would put into my own coffin to represent myself...
Do i measure success in terms of time? in terms of achievements? in terms of character development? Or do i measure it in terms of relationships, with God and with men?
Q2: What things actually determine your direction?
What drives my life? Is it pleasure or the pursuit of happiness? Is it fear and insecurity? Is it hatred and bitterness?
Do we have a God-given purpose in life? What are the benefits of a God-given purpose in our lives?
i) Redeem our time. Knowing our purpose helps us to be good stewards of God-given time. Time is not money, Time is priceless for money can be earned back, but lost time cannot.
ii) Refocus our life. Knowing our purpose brings to light the priorities in our lives. To major on the major and not major on the minor.
iii) Revitalise our energy. Because purpose brings about enthusiasm and energy as we pursue it.
iv) Redefine our significance. Purpose is an "identity" word, for knowing who we are and whose we are, determines our purpose. Thus significance is centered in Christ.
v) Realign my battles. For our fight is not against flesh and blood, or against one another, but against the evil forces. Knowing our purpose shows us what to right and what not to fight.
Q3: What things are of the greatest asset to you?

the sermon definitely left me thinking about the paths in which I hope to take.
